Description

Overview of duties and responsibilities:
➔ Manage all aspects of the CAMI museum & heritage program, following and implementing museum professional standards and practices;
➔ Directly manage the acquisition, documentation, care, maintenance and handling, use and access, copyright, security, environmental monitoring of collection, objects and facilities, and object-based database development, paper files and archives;
➔ Manage and negotiate copyright permissions for collections and exhibition publications, archives, publicity, marketing, catalogues, websites, e-communication, and related uses;
➔ Perform archival research on collection materials and/or artifacts for inclusion in records and databases including research in coordination with Heritage Interpreters;
➔ Maintain records on all permanent collection items, including acquisition/de-accession records and condition reports;
➔ Supervise the conservation and preservation of collection including managing and coordinating conservation treatments. Determine appropriateness of preparation methods in order to assure preservation of objects and museum standards;
➔ Represent CAMI's Museum and Heritage program through educational activities, workshop presentations, etc... and participation in local, regional and provincial committees and other related meetings;
➔ Develop ways in which objects and archives can be interpreted, through exhibitions, publications, events and audio-visual presentations;
➔ Collaborate with colleagues in areas such as conservation, education, design and marketing;
➔ Develop and organize new collections to expand and improve educational and research facilities;
➔ Collaborate / partner with other museum institutions;
➔ Interview, hire and train new staff or volunteers;
➔ Evaluates current practices, stays current with professional standards, and develops new practices in collections management and care;

Profile required:
➔ Undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline: heritage resource management, museum studies, history, anthropology, archeology, etc. or equivalent demonstrated experience;
➔ Excellent project management and organizational skills
➔ Ability to define and manage priorities;
➔ Excellent written and verbal communication skills (French & English)
➔ Ability to organize, present and communicate messages effectively
➔ Knowledge of working with museum databases and IT issues
➔ Strong eye for detail and strong design instincts
➔ Excellent research and IT skills
➔ Ability to interact and collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders;
➔ Autonomy & initiative;
➔ 10 paid vacation days for the first year of employment, 3 paid sick days and 3 paid personal days
➔ 2 weeks paid vacation during Christmas


Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent


Salary:
$24.77-$30.96 per hour
