Tasks and Responsibilities:
Shop Assistant Duties (morning and afternoons until July 1) (mornings after July 4 working with art classes and afternoons in giftshop)
- Sales and record keeping, including appropriate customer service.
- Help kick start and promote gift shop which has been intermittently closed to an in person store shopping experience since the beginning of COVID.
- Keeping shelves stocked with merchandise for sale, including ordering from consignors.
- Housekeeping dusting shelves, vacuuming floors, cleaning glass fixtures, etc.
- Opening and closing on time, as scheduled.
- Promotion and marketing activities, as assigned.
- Understanding the mandate and policies of the Museum Shop.
- Other related duties, as assigned.
- To bring awareness of art and culture to the youth of Moose Jaw through their participation in Summer Art & Culture Camp, regardless of financial limitations.
- To provide art education to children in the community through this program, including a blend of art activities such as drawing and painting, clay, cartooning, papier machè sculpture and a multicultural component.
- To help youth explore their own creativity by working with various art materials and through contact with visiting artists and Museum exhibits.
- To promote the importance of culture and cultural organizations to the Summer Art & Culture Camp students and their families through participation in the program.
- To assist with the delivery of the program, including setup and cleanup, as required, under the supervision of the Education Coordinator.
- To assist with the contact to referral organizations to identify children and teens, especially those at risk, to participate in the Summer Art & Culture Camps and Teen workshops.
- To assist with contacting appropriate resource people in the community to share their culture and/or art with program participants.

Required Education and Experience:
Undergraduate College or University student in history, education, art, or a field of study related to multiculturalism, and experience or interest working with children and youth.
Working with children with special needs would be an asset.Wage:
$13.28/hour plus holiday pay
Anticipated Dates:
May - August 25 (dates may change pending grant result)
This position is dependent on funding from Canada Summer Jobs and individuals must be registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to secondary or post-secondary school on a full-time basis in the next academic year; between 16 and 30 years of age; legally entitled to work in Canada; and be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status

Non-Canadian students or graduates holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible. Students with disabilities, Indigenous students, and students who are members of a visible minority are encouraged to apply.
