Description

The North Vancouver City Library is seeking an enthusiastic, adaptable and technologically savvy Library Technician with a passion for service to young people to join our team part-time (22 hours per week).

As part of the Youth and Family Services team, this position participates in a range of library public services for all ages and audiences, including information and reader's advisory service, programming and outreach, and collection management activities.

A commitment to customer service rooted in equity and respect is essential.

Knowledge of developmental milestones and the ability to prepare and deliver ageappropriate programming and outreach for early years, schoolaged children and teens and their families and caregivers
Knowledge of key resources and literatures, and the ability to provide ageappropriate reference and reader's advisory services in the Children's department and The Room, a space dedicated to teens
Creative ideas and a commitment to ongoing learning in the field
Familiarity with STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics) concepts and practices
Strong technology and instructional skills

Qualifications:

You will have completed a Library Technician diploma program including relevant courses, plus have some customer service and library experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.

Knowledge or experience in outreach, community development, or behavioural and developmental support for youth would be an asset.

$ $32.23/hour (pay grade 16; 2021 rates), plus 10% in lieu of benefits

Schedule:

Wednesday p.m.

Thursday - 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Friday - 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Saturday p.m.
