    The Opportunity

    The Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport has an exciting opportunity for a strategic leader with a proven track record of achieving successful outcomes for the role of Director, Strategic Initiatives in the Status of Women Office.

    Reporting to the Executive Director of the Status of Women Office, this position is critical to leading and coordinating the development of public policy, programs, and other strategic initiatives that support the Ministry's and the Status of Women Office goals and objectives. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director, Strategic Initiatives, will lead a high-performing team to proactively identify trends and best practices to develop evidence-based recommendations and strategic advice for government decision-making in matters that advance the status of women.

    Ideal Candidate

    The candidate of choice will have:

    • A strong understanding of government processes and protocols, including financial administration, planning and accountability management system, and legislative and regulatory frameworks;
    • A comprehensive knowledge and experience in leading the development of business case proposals, strategic planning, policy and program design and performance evaluation;
    • Significant management and leadership experience cultivating and fostering collaborative relationships across diverse groups to achieve consensus and positive outcomes;
    • Strong communication, interpersonal and human resource management skills along with demonstrated ability to lead high-impact projects that involve multiple stakeholders and partners with varied interests;
    • The ability to anticipate the needs and expectations of the organization and ministry;
    • The aptitude to intuitively respond to multiple competing demands and complete time-sensitive work with confidence and professionalism; and
    • Be results-orientated and accountable, with the ability to exercise sound judgment in a continuously changing environment.

    Typically, the knowledge and skills for this position would be obtained through a university degree in business or public policy administration or an equivalent of combined professional and education experience.
