Job Description:

*This is a Fixed Term Contract Role to May 2025*PURPOSE OF POSITION


As a member of the Public Affairs Team, you will provide communications advice, expertise and writing services in support of the Pensions, and the Credit Union & Insurance Prudential Sectors.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing advice and guidance on protocol, timing, tone, content and messaging of corporate responses to inquiries and information requests from senior officials, stakeholders and the public.
  • Providing expertise to, and partnering with, FSRA program areas to communicate FSRAs' role, policies, initiatives and programs to financial services industries, other levels of government, agencies, consumer groups, associations, partners, stakeholders and the public.
  • Developing and preparing messages, information, communications programs and products to support corporate positioning.
  • Collaborating with the public affairs team members on multimedia materials.
  • Leading committees and project teams to develop communications products and information materials.

CLARIFICATION OF
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Oversee all operational announcements for Pensions, and Credit Union & Insurance Prudential, including working with the program area to write and develop communications products and key messages and develop rollout strategies.
  • Create work tickets for all Market Conduct products, related meeting minutes, enforcement actions, and consultation submissions and summaries and work with Communications Services to ensure they get posted and released in a timely fashion.
  • Lead project teams for these work tickets, by proactively informing the Senior Communications Advisor and Sr. Media Relations and Digital Officer of progress and launch dates.
  • Work with the Sr. Media Relations and Digital Officer to project manage the timely posting of enforcement actions.
  • Work with the Sr. Media Relations and Digital Officer to coordinate the posting of Market Conduct news releases to the newswire.
  • Proofread all products for Market Conduct to ensure they are error free and related links are working prior to posting online / distribution.
  • Regularly scan stakeholder websites, social media and media clips for Market Conduct to identify milestone events, special days or notable trends.
  • Support the Senior Communications Advisor for Market Conduct as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager and Director of Communications.

QUALIFICATIONS
Specialized Knowledge and Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or a related field
  • 1 year of experience in digital, communications, public relations, journalism or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary and strategic communications theory, methods, techniques and practices in new media, design, content development and social media trends to provide senior expertise in developing internal and corporate communications.
  • Proven knowledge of editing methods and techniques to edit responses to queries and issues prepared by FSRA program areas.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research methods, sources and techniques to research and analyze communications requirements and to identify potential emerging issues or trends impacting FSRA communications.

Skills:


  • Proven skills to assess the issues and viewpoints of stakeholder groups/target audiences, partners and client sectors to design content and prepare messages, information and communications products to support corporate positioning.
  • Proven advisory, consultative and consensus building skills to develop cooperative efforts with internal clients, advise management on communications strategies and to advance the communications interests of FSRA.
  • Demonstrated writing/editing skills using a variety of vehicles, features and styles to write a range of communications materials.
