Social Work Intern Strathcona Place Society/Senior Centre - Edmonton, AB
Strathcona Place Senior Centre is a charitable organization whose aim is to assist seniors.
To provide outreach services and support to the senior community in the Edmonton and surrounding areas.
Seek to improve the well-being and quality of life for seniors including finding isolated seniors, identifying risk factors, providing program development.
Providing assistance with housing, benefits, form completion, information, and advocacy to the senior community through appointments, referrals, and home visits.
Having a multicultural approach to social and cultural inclusion with cross culture training and integration.
The Social Work Intern at Strathcona Place Senior Centre will work closely with our social workers on the Strathcona Place Outreach Team(SPOT), contributing significantly to our outreach programs and community services.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial client intakes and provide essential support in complex cases.
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients, ensuring their needs are met effectively.
- Research community resources and tailor programs to individual needs.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating outreach programs and support groups.
- Follow up with clients and provide clear and compassionate communication.
- Collaborate with social workers and actively participate in community services.
Qualification Requirements:
- Working towards or possessing a Diploma in Social Work/Human Services.
- Working towards a designation of Registered Social Worker (RSW).
