    Unit Summary
    The Boris Clinic is a partnership between Hamilton Health Sciences and Faculty of Health Sciences.

    It includes the General Internal Medicine, Clinical Teaching Unit, GIMRAC (General Internal Medicine Rapid Assessment Clinic), Diabetes Care and Research, Medical Day Care and a variety of medical sub specialty clinics all support the vision of clinical care, research and education.

    It is a fast-paced, diverse, adult which medicine clinic comprised of dermatology, rheumatology, allergy/immunology, cardiology, general internal medicine, endocrinology, respirology, adult Cystic Fibrosis Clinics and Patient Appointment Services.

    Position Summary

    As a member of the healthcare team, the Business Clerk (BC) provides clerical, administrative and business support to the healthcare team.

    The BC will be required to coordinate and reduce barriers, by working with different groups of people:
    patients, healthcare teams and resource providers.

    The BC role requires empathy, compassion and an understanding of the cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds in the community to service the patients.

    Schedule Work HoursMonday to Friday - Days. This position is temporary until March 2025 Qualifications 1. Graduate of community college secretarial or office administration program or equivalent or equivalent office experience
    2. Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 or demonstrated knowledge equivalent to the Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 acquired in a different Business Clerk position, which may be subject to testing
    3. Keyboarding 40 wpm (which may be subject to testing)
    4. Proficient Knowledge, skill and ability in using computer (Microsoft office tools – power point, excel, word, outlook, access) (which may be subject to testing)
    5. Demonstrates knowledge and ability of Epic registration and scheduling which may be subject to testing)
    6. Mathematical skills related to payroll, budget and statistical documents (which may be subject to testing)
    7. Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, public relations and problem-solving skills , especially within own team
    8. Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly
    9. Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
    10. Ability to appreciate the confidential nature of the position
