We are thrilled to welcome a Supervisor Crude Oil onto our Tidal Energy Marketing team The group is comprised of 4 business units: Tidal Canada

  • Oil & NGL's, Tidal Canada-Natural Gas, Tidal Canada Power, and Tidal US. Each business unit is accountable for the backoffice functions which involve accounting, settlements, reporting and financial controls.

What you will do:
Supervision

  • Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed, advise staff on nonroutine transactions, handle other staff issues
  • Manage all daytoday activities of Crude Oil accountants
Management Reporting, Forecasting and Budgets

  • Lead the development and maintenance of Tidal's operational and financial reporting processes, which includes analysis of Tidal's strategies and market impacts on these strategies.
  • Detailed analytical support for Tidal Front Office
  • High level analysis for Corporate Financial Reporting Teams
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the earnings forecasting and budget process.
Derivatives Accounting

  • Analyze and account for realized derivatives, normalization adjustments for realized derivatives and inventory lower of cost or net realizable value.
  • Prepare and analyze Normalization Adjustments for Corporate Book.
  • Assist in the distribution of Portfolio Hedges to individual Trading Strategies for Crude Oil and NGL.
  • Ensure accuracy of intercompany accounting with derivative company.
Financial and Operations accounting for Oil

  • Coordinate relationships between internal and external partners
  • Coordinate assigned Government Reports
  • Work with Auditors
  • Coordinate interface of operating subsystems to Oracle Financials
Accounting Input and Verification

  • Verifies and approves journal entries, AP invoices, and AR invoices into Oracle Financial system
  • Ensures accountants are complying to SOX processes
Financial Reporting

  • Preparation of the monthly Crude Oil detailed earnings report
  • Coordinate input to the Enbridge corporate accounting process (monthly, quarterly and yearend).
Account Analysis

  • Analysis and verification of revenue margins
  • Analysis of inventories
  • Analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
  • Other financial account analysis
Financial Controls and Processes

  • Support development and maintenance of effective financial controls across Tidal's finance functions.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Audit Services, Corporate Internal Controls and external auditors.
  • Provide expert guidance on the development of Tidal's financial systems and processes, to ensure these systems and processes are well aligned with Tidal's risk and operating systems.
Project Management and Continuous Improvement

  • Manage the execution of special projects which increase the capabilities and efficiencies of the financial functions which support Tidal.
  • Support the continuous improvement process, across Tidal Finance.
  • Assists with development, documentation, and effective operation of financial controls
  • Assists with design and implementation of process and accounting system improvements

You have:

  • Large public accounting firm experience along with strong analytical abilities with a willingness to grow in new areas

You can:

  • Show a strong commercial focus with the ability to organize and complete projects aimed at improving financial and system processes
  • Perform effectively under tight time constraints managing contending priorities for both functional and project type work assignments
  • Lead financial projects which span the entire Tidal Energy Marketing organization and are aligned with Enbridge enterprisewide processes

You are:

  • An excellent written and verbal communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to anticipate and respond to needs of various corporate office groups to include Corporate Accounting, Enterprise Risk, Audit Services, Internal Controls, Budgets, Forecasts, and IT
