Description

Familiarize and learn aspects of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Compliance in Alberta that would pertain to the BURNCO's commercial fleet.

Maintain Fleet Records for trip inspections, maintenance repairs and inspections, commercial driver records and other Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation legislation requirements.


Job Functions

Create and maintain the Commercial Driver files for BURNCO Rock Products.

This includes ensuring each file retains the following information
:


  • Record of 3 years employment history.
  • Driver's abstract dated within 30 days of hiring and every 6 months thereafter.
  • Record of all convictions and administrative penalties and fines for Provincial and Federal legislation relating to the operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Record of all collisions, conduct evaluations and corrective disciplinary action.
  • Record of all training completed, including Hours of Service, Driver Training, Road Tests, Evaluations, etc.
  • Copy of current medical certificate (indirect information may be acceptable, such as a copy of the driver's abstract or operator license).
  • Run monthly reports to check drivers' license expiry date.

Driver Abstracts

  • Obtain list of Commercial Drivers from the payroll department.
  • Ensure that the drivers have filled out the Alberta Government Driver Abstract Consent form before requesting Driver Abstract from the Registry.
  • Create list for Registry with drivers name, driver's license number and birthdate

File the records of all Maintenance (regular, preventive, and periodic) for the BURNCO Rock Products Ltd fleet:

  • Pre
- and/or Post-trip inspections and subsequent repair reports;

  • Scheduled inspections and maintenance;
  • Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP);
  • Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Inspections;
  • Distribute and file records of Manufacturer Recalls and Actions;

Maintaining retention and disposal schedules for records maintenance

  • Pre
-trips - current month and 6 months prior

  • Maintenance Records
  • Current year and previous four years; once vehicle is retired then 6 months from the retired date.
  • Driver Files for 5 years after the employee left company

Registrations and Licensing

  • Process the yearly registrations on all BURNCO Alberta fleet including Commercial and Non-Commercial vehicles.
  • Fill requests for license plate replacements, new license plate tabs, lost registrations and new vehicle registrations.
  • Update the system with the new license plate number or new driver of a fleet vehicle.
  • Ensure all vehicles are provided with updated insurance cards and permits as required.

Permits

  • Process the yearly Annual Over-Weight, Over-Dimension permits for the Pump Trucks and any other permits required for Commercial Vehicles.
  • Perform Intransit permits when requested.

AB Motor Vehicle Infractions

  • Receive (from local BURNCO locations) and file records of motor vehicle infractions for all other areas of Alberta
  • Inform the employee and supervisor of the fine.

Legislation Updates

  • Communicate legislative knowledge and/or legislative updates to supervisors and investigate any inquiries that may arise.
  • Inform supervisors and upline management when issues of noncompliance exist.

Safety

  • Get Carrier Profile for the Safety Department.
  • Retain all Compliance Audit records.
  • Respond to requests for records and assisting with audit inquiries and reports.
