The Opportunity

Working with the advocacy network Campaign 2000: End Child and Family Poverty, the
Communications Specialist will work with coalition members to support the development of a
communications plan for the campaign. The Communications Specialist will report to the Director,
Social Action.

Eligibility
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
- be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons to whom refugee protection has been

conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation

and regulations.
- be available to commence the position in May 2023.

Responsibilities

Assist in raising public awareness of reducing child poverty in Canada online and through social

media platforms.

Develop online content under supervision, including web/blog posts, newsletter updates to the

national coalition, and other materials such as vlogs, tweets, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat
posts and where appropriate.

Working effectively as part of team in order to coordinate tasks, share resources, plan, make

decisions.

Assist with projects as required.

Qualifications

Postsecondary education preferred.
Good verbal, listening and written communication skills.
Tech savvy

- familiar with social media platforms.

Good interpersonal, organization, time management, and prioritizing skills.
Good attention to detail.
Satisfactory criminal reference check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
