Overview


Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources (AVP) the Human Resources Manager oversees the Talent, Culture and Employee Relations/ Labour Relations functions for the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Recruitment & Onboarding_:


  • Accountable for driving the talent recruitment processes and strategies for assigned business units, in cooperation with the CNHI recruiting team
  • Implementing bestinclass onboarding for Associate's & Leaders, driving increased employee satisfaction and retention including routine followup with Associate's at keypoints in their onboarding journey.
  • Leverage available avenues of immigration and mobility program to maximize applicant pool

Culture:_

  • First and foremost, acts as the chief advocate for Associate's and their safety, engagement, and development.
  • Builds trusting relationships across the organization as a Senior leader of the Employee Services team.
  • Develops and promote an engaging employee experience with business unit management to create positive, team focused cultures.
  • Ensures the delivery of a consistent, professional and compelling communications strategy to support business and culture objectives, customized to assigned business concepts
  • Monitors key performance indicators such as retention rates and utilizes tools such as exit interviews and develops appropriate opportunity strategies.
L_
earning, Development, & Succession Planning -_

  • Develops and implements a learning & development program for assigned business units
  • Helps business units identify of high potentials as well as below standard performers, succession planning, promotions, transfers; creates appropriate learning/ development action plans
  • Provides accurate, timely responses to employee and management inquiries regarding policies and employment legislation

Employee Relations/ Labour Relations_.

  • Collaboratively works with Operations Managers, union representatives, as applicable, and Human Resources team to expeditiously resolve complex workplace concerns and disputes
  • Subject matter expert on all legislation, policies and procedures and collective agreements applicable to assigned business units
  • Leads and facilitates required dispute resolution and workplace investigations for assigned business units

Ideal Qualifications:


  • University degree or college diploma in Human Resources or related Human Resources experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and persuasion skills
  • Previous experience in dispute resolution; good conflict resolution skills
  • Experience working in a unionized and nonunionized environment an asset
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines as required
  • Knowledge of Ontario workplace legislation
  • Advanced computer knowledge (Microsoft Office
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with Ceridian Dayforce HRMS system a definite asset
