The position of Grant Writing Specialist plays a crucial role in securing the financial resources necessary to carry out our clients' missions and make a positive impact in their communities and industries.

This role is responsible for sourcing and submitting grant proposals to secure funding for our clients' projects and programs.

Working in collaboration with our Executive Directors and our team of specialists at Managing Matters, to comprehend priorities, gather data, and build sustainable grant strategies for our clients.

Research Funding Opportunities

  • Identify potential sources of funding that align with the goals and objectives of our clients and their projects.
  • Be a leader in knowledge of grant opportunities from all levels of government agencies and foundations across Canada.

Proposal Development

  • Craft compelling and wellorganized and researched grant proposals that effectively communicate the purpose, goals and anticipated outcomes of our clients' projects and programs.
  • Clearly articulate the need for funding, the target audience of beneficiaries, the project's potential impact.

Budget Creation

  • In collaboration with our Executive Directors and Accounting Team, develop detailed and realistic budgets that outline how the grant funds will be utilized and reported.
  • Ensure the budget aligns with the goals of the project and meet the requirements of the funding opportunity.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Communicate effectively with funders to seek clarification, provide additional information, or address any concerns they may have.

Grant Compliance

  • Understand and adhere to the guidelines and requirements set by the funding organization.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the proposal, including budgets and timelines, comply with the terms and conditions of the grant.

Relationship Building

  • Cultivate relationships with funding organizations and program officers to enhance the likelihood of securing future grants.
  • Maintain open communication channels to keep funders informed about project progress and outcomes.

Grant Management

  • Assist in the implementation of funded projects by helping with reporting requirements, progress updates, and other documentation as specified by the grant agreement.
  • Monitor deadlines for interim and final reports, ensuring the timely submission and completion.

Grant Strategy Development

  • Contribute to the development of a longterm grant strategy for our for our clients, identifying potential funding streams and building a sustainable approach to securing financial support.

Continuous Learning

  • Stay updated on trends in grant writing, funding opportunities, and changes in regulations or requirements that may impact the grantseeking process.

Detailed Qualifications

  • Postsecondary degree or certification in related field
  • Minimum 57 years' experience in a charitable or notforprofit environment
  • High proficiency in MS Office, Outlook and
  • Demonstrated Excellence in writing and ability to plan for, and meet, multiple competing deadlines
  • Experience in working with Grants and Request for Proposals
  • Experience with relationship management software, donor databases and digital giving platforms
  • Experience working with Communications and Marketing in support of Grant Requirements
  • Excellence in diplomacy, tack, strategy, execution, and trustworthiness
  • Knowledge of government guidelines pertaining to fundraising, charitable gifts, privacy legislation regulations, and charitable tax receipt requirements an asset
  • Possession of CFRE designation an asset
