What's the job?
As Bar Manager you'll lead and direct beverage operations, ensuring quality service and standards are maintained to deliver a memorable guest experience. Always following government regulations concerning health, safety or other requirements.
Your day-to-day
People
- Direct everyday activity, plan and assign work ensuring you always have the right staffing numbers
- Develop your team and improve their performance through coaching and feedback
- Train colleagues to make sure they deliver with compliance and to the standards we expect
- Drive a great working environment
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
- Excellent customer service skills and a passion for creating exceptional guest experiences
- Recommend or initiate any HR related actions where needed
Financial
- Create bar retail opportunities
- Monitor budget and control expenses with a focus on beverage, and labour costs
- Working with the catering office, identify additional sales opportunities to enhance revenue
- Responsible for the bar monthly inventory
Guest Experience
- Establish and achieve quality and member satisfaction goals. Help members with their requests and complaints making sure you maintain a high level of guest satisfaction
- Enhance the beverage experience through elevated cocktail offerings, menus, bar technology etc.
- Monitor competitor activity / industry innovation
- Create beverage events and programming, including coordination of Member Happy Hour and Scotch and Wine Club events
- Ensure beverage areas are clean and properly stocked to anticipated business volume. Notify Building Operations immediately of any maintenance and repair needs
- Drive promotions that deliver great beverage experiences for guests
Responsible Business
- Participate and coordinate beverage marketing programs and promotions
- Adhere to all safety regulations and policies as determined by the organization and government regulatory bodies.
- Other adhoc duties unexpected moments when we have to pull together to get a task done. (Team goal orientated)
- May also serve as manager on duty
- Make sure beverage equipment is in operational condition and regularly cleaned
- 4+ years' related experience, management experience preferred
- Must obtain certifications or permits as required by local governmental agencies and have a valid Pro-Serve
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Familiar with local laws and regulations
- Physical ability to carry out all necessary duties (example but not limited to pulling and lifting up to 50lbs)
