Data Modeler


WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?


The Enterprise Data Modeling team is undertaking multiple complex enterprise-wide initiatives as part of RBC's ongoing plan to improve data management and data architecture across the organization.

In this role you will be responsible for data modeling & architecture of the above-mentioned initiatives.

The role will coordinate, develop, lead, communicate and enrich data models on a well-architected eco-systems to ensure objectives are accomplished according on time.


WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Communicate with Data Analysts, Interfacing Apps Teams & Business Stakeholders and understand data requirements from the mapping document.
  • Perform Data Modeling with Erwin technology tool with Data mindset
  • Produce diagram PDFs, metadata spreadsheet and populate logical and physical portions of the mapping document. Also, able to work with Senior Data Modeler & Data Solution Architects to enhance target Solution Blueprint as needed.
  • Support ongoing initiatives from the modeling pointofview which includes answering questions on data element naming standards nomenclatures & associated taxonomy.
  • Work on the data modeling portion of the Database Change Requests (DCRs).

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:


  • Strong understanding of Relational, NoSQL, JSON data structures
  • Logical data model, physical data modeling, conceptual data modeling, relational data modeling, dimensional data modeling, data vault modeling
  • Understand normalization vs. denormalization & ability to use Erwin tool for data modeling
  • Reverse engineering & forward schema generation with complete compare
  • Ability to use the bulk editor & understanding of hierarchical data structure
  • Undergraduate degree coupled with change management experience in complex programs with high frequency of requests and multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills. Ability to determine the information and communication needs of the stakeholders and project.
  • Strong organizational, data modeling, database design and time management capabilities.
  • A strong understanding of technology and/or financial services industry.
  • Deadlinedriven and resultsoriented; able to meet consistently high quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Experience in a matrix environment, such as a large, publicly traded corporation
  • Ability to facilitate between and influence key decision makers
  • Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses
