We are looking to fill a permanent position of
Payroll Technician at our Ville Saint-Laurent office.


Position Overview:


Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, your role will be to process, verify and produce Canadian payroll on a weekly basis for unionized and non-unionized employees, including during vacation periods.

You will perform the various operations involved in issuing employee payrolls, ensure consistency, confidentiality and compliance of payroll data while respecting deadlines, inform employees of changes in their files and respond to their requests.


More specifically, your main tasks will be:

  • Validate all data relating to employee files, including hirings, departures, movements within the company, vacations, vacation banks, accumulated hours, and other benefits.
  • Carry out the operational and administrative tasks required to produce the payroll for all the divisions under his/her responsibility and, if necessary, make the appropriate adjustments.
  • Check timesheets and consult managers regarding discrepancies.
  • Prepare payments of government source deductions and other rebates according to schedule.
  • Prepare and review payroll accounting entries.
  • Answer payrollrelated questions from various stakeholders (employees, managers, HR, etc.).
  • Prepare documents such as Records of Employment, T4s and R1s.
  • Fulfill various monthend and yearend responsibilities.
  • Work closely with Human Resources and Accounting on all payrollrelated issues.

Requirements:


  • College diploma (DEC) in accounting or related discipline
  • Certified by the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA)
  • 5 to 7 years experience in payroll processing with a very good knowledge of Canadian payroll rules
  • Proficiency in the ADP Work Force Now (WFN) payroll system (an asset)
  • Knowledge of payroll principles and tax laws
  • Knowledge of the Labour Standards Act
  • Knowledge of yearend processes (T4, R1, summary, etc.)
  • Bilingualism (French and English) both written and spoken.
  • Mastery of the MS Office suite (Excel)
  • Experience with AS400 and an ERP system such as JDE, Oracle or SAP (an asset)
