Skills and Abilities:


  • Must have 12 years of experience, either in transport or related industry;
  • Must have good geographical knowledge;
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong Communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy;
  • Ability to evaluate data and options for action and to reach sound conclusions;
  • Must be team player with strong commitment to quality and customer service;
  • Ability to multitask and manage priorities, meet deadlines, work under pressure and take on additional tasks;

Responsibilities:

-
Ensure phones and satellite messages are answered promptly:

  • Ensure load specific and operations related documents, gate-passes, time cards and faxes to customs are administered in a timely and effective manner;
  • Responding to various types of operational issues including but not limited to: equipment breakdowns, driver reassignments, custom or border delays, load delays or cancellations, overweight loads, etc.
  • Communicate efficiently with driver to ensure continuous service to customer and team
  • Communicate clearly to team of ongoing issues what can be fixed / made better
  • Find creative solution for different problems (breakdown, backhaul, etc.)
  • Challenge driver times also meaning minimize wasted time
  • Work towards a system where driver know the task they have to do and we only communicate the exceptions
  • Improve driver retention
  • Assist planners with overflow dispatching
  • Fill in planning role when needed.
  • Support any team member who needs assistance

Trouble Shooting:


  • Establish and put in place a plan for loads that do not seem or will not be meeting service commitments. This includes communicating information to customer and customer service
  • Ensuring proper type of equipment is assigned to customers and trailer bank commitments are not depleted;
  • Ensure yard check, load security, heated load and inactive trailer monitoring;
  • Relay information, obstacles and discrepancies to driver managers, operations, customer service, and other various departments (when necessary) and in order to prevent systematic service failures;
  • Monitoring for hazardous or time sensitive maintenance flags and assigning equipment accordingly;
