We are currently seeking an eager self-starter looking to start their career and fill the permanent, full-time position of Junior Field Technician, based in either Calgary or Regina.


Position Summary
The tracking and survey field technicians are responsible for deploying tool tracking boxes.

They are also responsible for tracking pipeline pigs during pipeline cleaning and inspection runs in addition to providing survey services.


Reporting
All Tracking & Survey field personnel report to the Regional Operations Lead.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate advanced field gear, including GPS data collectors and pipe locating equipment.
  • Walk the aboveground pipeline RightofWays (ROW) across all terrains.
  • Review/download documents of record. Prepare custom reports, daily project, and safety checklists.
  • Operate company or rental vehicles.
  • Follow safe work practices, company standards, and customer service protocol.
  • Operate ATV's and snowmobiles, as terrain and weather require.
  • Basic knowledge of transmitters and receivers.
  • Basic knowledge and operations of GPS equipment.
  • Conduct simple calculations and understand the concept of flows.

Position Requirements

  • Previous experience in pipeline construction and/or pipeline pigging is an asset.
  • Positive attitude, and eager to learn and brings continuous improvement to the position and the Company.
  • Committed to safety and a culture of safe work.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to complete simple calculations.
  • Must be willing to travel and be away from home for extended periods (up to 3 weeks).
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends when required.
  • Able to adapt to frequently changing schedules and tight timelines.
  • Enjoys working outdoors and is prepared to work in inclement weather conditions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be physically able to move and/or lift heavy objects (up to 50lbs) as well as walk long distances (up to 6km per day).
  • Excellent customer relations skills.
  • Able to work independently, as well as in a team environment with minimum supervision.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel) and PC Skills.
  • Organization and Time Management skills
  • Experience with the use of twoway radios.
  • Experience driving a truck & trailer and/or maneuvering heavy machinery is required.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Safety Requirements

  • Clean class 5 Alberta Driver's License (nonGDL) and Drivers Abstract is required.
  • Must pass drug and alcohol preemployment testing.
  • Valid H2S Alive certification.
  • Valid and recognized First Aid & CPR training.


  • WHMIS 201

  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certificate.
  • ATV and/or Snowmobile Training.
