    Job Description
    CASA (Children's After School Achievement) is a community program of Hope College that has served the Holland area for 35 years. Our purpose is to promote educational achievement among underrepresented elementary school children by providing the tools needed for academic success. Students benefit from one-on-one tutoring during the school year and classroom instruction during the summer.

    CASA invites applications for Teachers to work in our lively, creative Summer 2024 program. The position is part-time, summer only.

    Summer CASA meets four mornings a week Monday – Thursday for six weeks. Six classrooms of approximately 15 students are taught by certified teachers. The focus is educational success in all subjects, with a strong emphasis in reading and math. Teachers will design the curriculum, linking learning with personal and cultural enrichment opportunities for students.

    REQUIRED DATES AND HOURS:
    -Monday – Thursday Staff Orientation: Monday, June 10th-13th, 2023 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
    – Mondays through Thursdays, June 17th through August 1st. (Unpaid Holiday: July 1-4)
    – Teachers' hours are 8:00am to approximately 12:45 pm Monday-Thursday. 24 hours per week.
    – Additional required hours are:
    ~ Staff Meetings –Tuesdays 12:45-1:15 PM

    Qualifications
    Qualifications: College degree and valid teaching certification (or within 2 months of final certification), demonstrated successful classroom experience teaching ethnically and economically diverse populations of elementary students, ability to drive a Hope College vehicle (includes holding a valid U. S. driver's license for two or more years).

    Physical Demands
    This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a computers, printers, copy machines; Occasionally involves lifting over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities with students. In the case of temporary or permanent condition(s) that require(s) accommodation(s), reasonable accommodation(s) may be requested.
