Qualifications:


Hold a Diploma of College Studies in Social Service or a diploma or an attestation of studies recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.

A temporary layoff will occur during the summer period


Other Requirements:

Experience working with students with socio-emotional and/or behavioral difficulties in a school setting

TIPPS & Zones of Regulation training is an asset

BMS training is an asset

Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment

Strong interpersonal skills to develop quality relationships with students, staff, and families

Acts as an (multiple school) in-school resource for students with socio/emotional/behavioral needs

Bilingualism (English and French)

Demonstrated knowledge of attachment and systems theory and child/youth development would be an asset

Experience working with diverse populations in an elementary & secondary school setting would be an asset

Effective communicator and collaborator to support plans made for children and youth with socio-emotional and/or behavioral difficulties

Available to work some evenings

Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development

Experience working with and supporting families of students with social and behavioral/emotional difficulties would be an asset

Previous experience working in a treatment milieu and/or background in social work or counseling, would be an asset

Ability to set clear student/counsellor boundaries and knowledge of when to involve administration an asset

Nature of the work


Daily Tasks/Dossiers:

As part of the multi-disciplinary team, the incumbent acts under the direction of the School Principal and multi-disciplinary

team of the F.S.S.T.T.

Acts as an in-school resource for students with socio/emotional/behavioral needs working in conjunction with school staff and resource teams

Assists with home interventions, as needed, and participates in training on understanding and managing social/emotional/behavioral challenges

Develops close relationships with students to help facilitate interventions for their social and emotional difficulties

Attends regular team support meetings and P.D. activities such as the FSSTT Lecture Series

Leads social skills groups for selected students as well as makes links to community groups or organizations

Create and manage program/sessions

Solides habiletés en relations interpersonnelles pour établir des liens de qualité avec les élèves, le personnel et les familles

Agir comme ressource à l'interne (dans plusieurs écoles) pour les élèves ayant des besoins socio-affectifs

Bilinguisme (anglais et français)

Connaissance manifeste de la théorie de l'attachement et des systèmes et du développement des enfants et des jeunes - un atout
