RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Entering required information into the Human Resources Information System for new hires and processing changes to an employee's electronic record e.g. for transfers, terminations, leaves of absence and promotions
  • Providing ad hoc support to test, troubleshoot and ensure ongoing performance improvement related to HR Systems, policies and procedures
  • Creating ad hoc reports to support Human Resources and other departments
  • Liaising with external organizations including HOOPP, benefit carriers and government agencies as appropriate
  • Calculating appropriate union seniority according to applicable collective agreement provisions when processing transfers and returns from leaves
  • Processing anniversary and parttime hours worked wage increases each pay period
  • Documenting new employees and internal transfers individually or in groups e.g. at Orientation, etc.
  • Assisting with preparation or memos, creation or revision of forms and other correspondence as needed
  • Preparing and distributing own routine correspondence
  • Advising employees of implications of, and options available with regard to a leave of absence on their benefits and seniority and explaining SUB plan benefits to those commencing a pregnancy or parental leave
  • Responding to benefit and employee record inquiries from staff and leaders as required
  • Providing superior customer service when rotating through the frontdesk reception assignment as required; includes duties such as greeting internal and external visitors, determining their needs and referring them to HR team members as appropriate
  • Performing other duties as assigned


  • Job Requirements

  • Successful completion of a college diploma in human resources or other equivalent study area, from a recognized educational institution
  • A minimum of one (1) year of recent and related experience preferably working within a large and complex healthcare environment
  • Applicants with proven equivalent recent and related training and experience may be considered
  • Advanced technical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with Human Resources Information Systems preferred
  • Excellent organization and problem solving skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands
  • Superior work ethic, professionalism, resourcefulness, dependability, reliability and diplomacy
  • Proven ability to make decisions, exercise judgment and take initiative in dealing with confidential information and/or in responding to inquiries
  • Flexible with ability to work efficiently in a fastpaced, multitasking and dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
