We have both immediate and upcoming requirements for EMR/PCP/ACP medics for work on wildfires in the Alberta forest areas.
Black Gold Medical has a contract with the Alberta Agriculture and Forestry Ministry to provide medics on wildfires in the forest areas of Alberta.
Timing is of the essence when it comes to wildfires and availability is very important.Wildfires require multiple types of service providers to work together in challenging and remote situations.
The hours worked in a day can typically be up to 14 hours when doing assessments and treatments as workers come off the fire line at the end of the day.
Accommodations on wildfire projects are variable. They include personal tents, mobile trailers, long term camps and hotels depending on the location of the wildfire. Accommodations can change based on changing conditions of the wildfire.Air transportation to the wildfire may also be a part of any contract, possibly requiring the medic to travel by helicopter.
Being mentally prepared for remote work is essential to successfully working as a wildfire medic.
You will be accountable and responsible for assessment and treatment of on-site personnel and to advise and/or transport to a medical facility if required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Current Drug and Alcohol clearance
- Current (unrestricted) registration as an EMR/PCP/ACP with Alberta College of Paramedics
- Alberta Wildfire Online Orientation, ICS100, TDG, and WHMIS 2015 are required and provided
- Current tickets: H2S Alive, Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
- Valid Class 4 (PCP/ACP) / Class 5 (EMR) drivers license
- A current Drivers Abstract
- Off highway vehicle certificate/training is an asset
- Experience with a volunteer fire department or other wildfire experience is a strong asset
