The National Specifications Manager will lead and manage the strategic direction of the Canadian Specification Team and the writing of technical specifications for the architectural community, including code compliance of new constructions projects.

The position will report to the Director of Sales Operations and will be focused on the combined activities/program execution driven by regional sales and specification teams.

What you will do

  • Lead, develop and support strategy for Canada for writing product and product solutions into the appropriate Construction Specification Institute (CSI) specification sections for all solutions within the Allegion portfolio.
  • Develop and implement consistent specification writing best practices across Canada
  • Collaborate with Regional Sales leadership to create demand through specifications supporting regional and market requirements.
  • Develop and implement specification language for product and solutions to be used by Allegion Canada Specification writers.
  • Create demand with collaboration from product management and marketing to introduce product solutions to the architectural community for future opportunities.
  • Develop and execute continued training and tools for specification writers and architectural sales consultants (including Allegion and independent consultants) and early talent development programs.
  • Support communications and programs for Canadian architectural firms.
  • Develop and monitor metrics to track incremental revenue growth rate for specifications written.
  • Identify competitive advantages to increase close rate on specifications written; develop and monitor metrics to track.
  • Utilize sales and leadership background/experience to manage, coach and develop the Canadian specification writing team.
  • Utilize CRM to manage opportunity and account planning for proactive regional sales collaboration.
  • Generate Proposals and pricing for Special Project scenarios where we are pursuing a contract for our services.
  • Work with finance to execute the invoicing of Special Project Contracts.
What you will need

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business or Technical field
  • 7+ years sales or specification experience including leadership experience
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electronic solutions, including options spanning from mechanical access/egress control to total facility integration
  • Industry specific experience preferred
  • Strong Communication skills verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with and influence a variety of accounts
  • Selfmotivator and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Able to work at building a business. Small scale to larger scale build up.
  • Ability to think strategically and problem solve with entrepreneurial commitment to achieving goals
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to execute on business plans
  • Collaborator with both customer and internal cross functional teams
  • Customercentric with the ability to balance both customer benefits and business financials effectively
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
