Position Overview

The Supervisor, Emergency Preparedness will report to the Director, Plant Operations and is responsible for emergency preparedness at the hospital.

Following best practices and working with community stakeholders, the incumbent will lead, develop and implement a sustainable emergency management program and framework to further the hospital's readiness to address emergencies of all types.


Education and experience:


  • Community College in Emergency Preparedness or Planning (or other related field) (a combination of experience and education could be considered equivalent)
  • 3 years of experience in Emergency Preparedness field
  • Bilingual (English and French)
  • Knowledge of the Emergency management civil protection act, federal and provincial regulations
  • Knowledge of Principals of Emergency management
  • Mitigation/Prevention/Preparedness, Response and Recovery
  • Knowledge of Emergency Risk management as it relates to Occupational Health and Safety Act in preparing and responding to disasters in the health


  • Knowledge of HIRA

  • Hazard identification and risk assessment and business continuity plans
  • Knowledge of IMS doctrine of Ontario or HICCS
  • CBRN training
  • Coordination of external EP partners and services and health services
  • Knowledge of exercise design evaluation and improvement
  • Knowledge of after action reports and corrective action plans
  • Business Continuity Management practices and protocols, including indepth knowledge of international BCM standards promoted by BCI and DR. and ISO
  • A strong understanding of Operational risk and resilience, Business Process improvement methods as well as risk related control frameworks and practices (COCO, COSO, ISO, ITIL, CMM, COBIT, etc.)
  • Ability to work with MS Office Suite
  • Teams, Sharepoint, Excel
  • Strong organization skills and time management skills
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Partnership building and political savvy

As a pre-condition of employment:


All new HGH employees will be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory Police Records Check dated within six (6) months from the date of issue.

As of now, HGH will require all employees, physicians, learners, contractors and volunteers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
