Position Overview
To assist in the maintenance and upkeep of building, property, grounds and associated equipment within the Homes.


Responsibilities:


Interior Building Maintenance:


  • Provides heavy cleaning and moving of equipment and furniture as required
  • Assist with repairs to machinery and equipment, including, but not limited to, the electrical, heating, ventilation, lighting, kitchen, laundry and emergency power equipment, and light plumbing
  • Repair and maintain building including carpentry, painting and drywall repair
  • Perform maintenance to windows, doors, floors, tiles, drapery and privacy track and lighting as directed
  • Perform general repairs to furniture and equipment belonging to the residents and the Home as directed

Exterior Building Maintenance:


  • Ensure regular maintenance of grounds, property, exterior of building, parking lots and sidewalks on a seasonal basis

Supplies:


  • Assists with the loading and unloading of delivery trucks, storing and dispensing of supplies as necessary

General:


  • Incumbents must keep uptodate on all relevant legislation, collective bargaining agreements, County Policies and Procedures, etc. ensuring that these are implemented as prescribed
  • Incumbents must possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the job description and/or the requirements identified within the position's Physical Demands Analysis

Qualifications:


Minimum Formal Education:


  • Completion of Grade 1
  • Ability to read and understand manuals
  • Certificate in above duties would be an asset

Experience:


  • No experience required
  • General house/building maintenance knowledge is considered an asset
A valid Ontario driver's license and use of a vehicle.
