Position Summary:


The Warehouse Associate is responsible for the receiving of incoming materials, preparation and shipment of products as scheduled, move materials between areas and departments and efficiently performs their work in accordance with established procedures, following all safety protocols and workplace policies.

She/he will also be required to complete any and all tasks deemed necessary by his/her supervisor for the safe and efficient operation of the company, including but not limited to operating a variety of hand and power tools; equipment and machinery.

She/he will be responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work area. Shift work is required.


Duties & Responsibilities:

Receiving

  • Unload incoming shipments, unpack, label and route goods to appropriate areas by the aid of mechanical devices.
  • Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents; record shortages and/or damages prior to signing off receiving documents and report any issues to immediate supervisor.
  • Store/Putaway materials and supplies according to the part number and or description
  • Ensure that all paperwork and IFS transactions are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Shipping

  • Process requests by picking and filling orders from stock, packing/palletizing, printing and affixing shipping labels.
  • Safely load outgoing materials into trucks/shipping containers and properly secure them to avoid any intransit damages.
  • May determine the method of shipment and arrange for carrier's pickup, prepare bills of lading and other shipping documentation manually or by computer.
  • Perform quality audits on the condition of goods shipped for both incoming and outgoing items prior to sign off.
  • Knowledge of weight/load restrictions based on type of truck/container
Material Handling

  • Transferring materials and supplies according to the part numbers and location of use from warehouse to production floor and vice versa, by safely performing physical tasks such as lifting, carrying and stacking by hand or safely using material handling equipment
  • Ensure that all paperwork and IFS (ERP) transactions are completed accurately and in a timely manner

Other:


  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and work instructions.
  • Actively participate and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide exceptional service to Customers and vendors, good written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Participate in various projects assigned by supervisor (e.g. cycle counting, and physical inventory counts etc.)
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices in work area using the 5S principles.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner, change over, preventative maintenance, start up and shut down procedures. Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation and carriage of goods.
  • Problem solve for any cases of missing documents, shipments and deliveries.
  • As required, provide training to new and/or junior employees with a focus on performing work in a safe, efficient, quality minded manner.
  • Vacation coverage for his/her colleagues from Shipping and Receiving department, as well as Material Handlers on continental shifts with adequate notice.
  • Location, shifts, duties and responsibilities may be amended from time to time in order to support efficient company operations
  • Overtime & weekend coverage will be required specifically at month end but not limited too

Requirements:


  • Completion of High School or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role shipping and receiving in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred.
  • Counter balance and Reach Truck/Forklift certified with a minimum of 2 years experience.
  • SafeTech Training and Certificate a MUST.
  • Previous experience with ERP systems is a must, preferrably IFS.
  • Solid knowledge of work place safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
  • Basic WHMIS knowledge.
  • Required to complete and successfully pass the Warehouse General Knowledge Test.
