Job Description:

AECOM is actively seeking an Environmental Scientist/EIT to be located in our GTA office in Markham. This is a full-time role.


The Remediation team in Markham, Ontario supports brownfield redevelopment projects, completes environmental assessments, completes environmental compliance assessments, provides environmental and engineering services to many industrial and private sector clients, and develops and manages long-term operation, maintenance, and monitoring (OM&M) of remedial systems and risk management measures.


Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the preparation of project related technical documents including proposals, environmental reports, technical specifications, and drawings for review.
  • Field work and oversight associated with environmental investigations, OM&M sites, and remediation activities will be required, and will include drilling oversight, soil sampling, well installation, groundwater sampling, surface water sampling, investigative/remedial excavation oversight, vapour sampling, etc.

+ Remediation design projects:
Phase 1 and 2 environmental site assessment (scheduling, procurement, execution, cost control).


  • Preparation of Remedial Actions Plans, Environmental Risk Assessments, Remediation projects
  • Technical writing and preparing technical documents, such as reports.
  • Collaborating and coordinate work with peers from the environment business, peers from other engineering disciplines, clients, contractors, and sub-consultants.

+ Quality management:
demonstrated ability to follow internal processes and help projects be compliant.


Qualifications:


Minimum Requirements:


+ Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline: Environmental engineering, Environmental geoscience, etc.


  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:


  • 2 years of related experience in the environmental field.
  • Willingness to travel to undertake fieldwork is required (field demands can include working long hours, working in inclement weather conditions, and working in remote locations).
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Must be flexible with project types and responsibilities,
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills to effectively express technical information to multiple audiences including subcontractors, field staff, clients, colleagues, etc.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite; excellent knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills; conduct yourself with integrity, work within multi-disciplinary teams, deal with complex issues, and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Have a high level of initiative and enthusiasm for getting things done.
  • Registered Engineering In Training (EIT) (or eligible for licensing after obtaining sufficient experience.)
