What you will be doing in the role of Instrumentation Technician:
Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • On-site services including configuration, commissioning and troubleshooting
  • Some travel, overtime and afterhours coverage would be required
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays and be oncall to respond to emergencies when required
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in inclement weather
  • Provide a premier level of customer service including timely resolution of all customer concerns supporting both local and remote customers
  • Follow through with customer maintenance contract work
  • Consulting diagrams and technical documentation such as schematics, manuals, standards and codes
  • Installing, configuring, calibrating and maintaining control, measurement and indicating instrumentation (pneumatic, analog & digital)
  • Inspecting and testing the operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults
  • Removing, repairing, adjusting and replacing components
  • Calibrating components and systems
  • Radar, Coriolis
  • Maintaining sound working relationships with customer's personnel in various functional departments, such as: engineering, purchasing and maintenance
  • Helping maintain and follow ISO procedures
  • Maintaining representative certification by taking required Emerson Process Management training courses
  • Liquid Analytical Commissioning/Calibration
  • Wireless Commissioning/Troubleshooting
  • Promoting services capability and a team approach within Lakeside Process Controls Ltd.

Knowledge and skills required for the role:

  • Must be a qualified journeyperson, possess an Instrumentation Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent
  • Five to ten years of prior experience
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Advanced troubleshooting abilities
  • Able to climb ladders/stairs and work at heights
  • Knowledge on measurement devices (Flow, pressure, temperature, level, analytical, control valves & positioners)
  • Understanding of electronics and basic electrical requirement
  • Knowledge of process control
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot problems, provide results & recommendations to customers
  • Previous exposure to programming & wiring of PLC's, DCS's and single loop controllers would be an asset.
  • Proficient in computer operating systems (DOS, VMS, Windows)
  • Training and Presentation skills
  • Project Management skills
