**Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a full
- time contract, 40 hours per week, Intensive Case Manager in EDMONTON to join our Lurana Shelter team. Providing excellent client-centered care, you are confident, thoughtful, and motivated to achieve success when supporting others in your community**
This position has a weekly schedule of: Monday
  • Friday, 9:00AM5:00pm with

flexibility required.

The contract is until November 1, 2023.

Program Overview:

Lurana Shelter is a first stage shelter for women and their children fleeing family
violence. Providing safety, physical, psychological and spiritual care to them during their
stay in Lurana.


Job Summary:

You possess relationship building skills, a passion for assisting women and children,
and an extensive knowledge of community resources. You have skills in facilitating
workshops. You are compassionate and adept in providing emotional support and
safety planning to clients, including a follow up component. You are organized with
strong verbal and written skills, case management expertise and follow up skills. The
ability to work in a coordinated manner within a multi-disciplinary team is essential for
meetings once a month during the week.

  • Manage a caseload of 46 individuals
  • Assess the risk and vulnerability of the individual and respond with appropriate risk management strategies, adhering to agency protocol.
  • Advocacy for social justice and reducing barriers to women and their children in accessing services.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and a willingness to collaborate with community partners through investment in the development of working relationships.
  • Act as a liaison between Lurana Shelter, residents, other community members and service providers
  • Provide accurate referrals and demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of community resources as well as the programming available through the shelter and internally and externally.
  • Information relating to risk will be communicated to management and to teammates as priority for safety and monitoring.
  • Participate in a weekly case conference meeting to ensure that individuals at the shelter are receiving a full level of support.
  • Maintain accurate files and case notes demonstrating appropriate, objective, professional standards of documentation.
  • Administer the Danger Assessment and build client centered safety plans with each individual, as well as, developing client led service plans for each person on your caseload.
  • Ensure and maintain resident confidentiality communicating the limits to confidentiality to all clients during service provision.
  • Maintain accurate statistics of residents and children
  • Comply with ALL policies and procedures of the shelter to ensure operations function safely and the dignity of clients and staff is respected.
  • Provide orientation, support and supervision to new employees, practicum students and volunteers as required.
  • Attend all staff meetings and in service training
  • Ensure serious occurrence reports and all Incident reports are logged into Sharevision for access by Team Leader and Program Managers
  • Perform other duties as required

Education and Qualifications:


  • Diploma/Degree in human services or equivalent, Social Work degree is preferable
  • Three (3) years of experience in working with women and children experiencing family violence who may have complex needs
strong independent/team work skills, a commitment to developing positive supporting
relationships, and experience supporting families.

  • A welldefined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and team building skills.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong knowledge of intimate partner violence, risk assessment, safety planning, traumainformed care and harm reduction
  • Strong knowledge of case management and community resources
  • Must be nonjudgmental and empathic and dedicated to the pursuit of social justice
  • Must have the ability to work in a highly stressful and nonstructured environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Confidentiality an absolute requirement
  • Certification in administering the Danger Assessment considered an asset.
  • A reliable Vehicle, Valid Driver's License, Vehicle Registration and Third Party Liability Insurance (amount of two million)
  • Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search, and Intervention Record Check current within six (6) months
  • Summary of driving record with no more than six (6) demerit points current within one (1) year.
