We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Quality Manager to support our business located in London, Ontario.

Our automotive products fall into four primary groups:
Seating and Lumbar support, Motors and Actuators, and Mechanical Cables.

As a Quality Manager, you will have the opportunity to maintain and improve branch quality management system (QMS) in terms of the processes and procedures used.

Your contributions will directly impact the business by cost, quality, and productivity of the product line.

You will lead a team of Quality Engineering and Quality Technicians, reporting directly to the North America Director of Quality.


So, what will you be doing as a Quality Manager?

  • Implement, improve, and monitor QMS to meet customer, legal, and LPA's requirements and expectations
  • Lead, develop, and coach branch quality staff to facilitate quality branch activities
  • Champion and lead crossfunctional problem solving teams through problem identification, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventative measures.
  • Review and develop action plans to improve branch KPIs
  • Lead problem solving and implement corrective actions while documenting knowledge
  • Manage quality department to provide support to branch operations and service the customer
  • Establish and implement procedures to ensure quality of the incoming and outgoing material
  • Develop methods to check and ensure midstream and upstream quality in new products
  • Ensure compliance of quality, regulatory, and customer requirements, such as IATF 16949, and VDA
  • Maintain/improve customer and supplier intimacy through customer interactions
  • Lead a safety first approach, maintaining a zero accident culture
  • Willing to travel to customers and suppliers when needed (10% maximum within region)

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A University degree in Engineering is required
  • Solid people skills aligning with leadership and management
  • 3 to 5 years of quality management experience
years of Automotive Quality experience

  • Knowledge and experience of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, Capability Indices and Control Charts
  • Good planning and communication skills
  • Strong advanced problem solving skills utilizing different methodologies, such as Kepner-Tregoe, 8D, Shainin, Red-X, etc.
  • Strong statistical technical skills
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)

Things we consider a plus

  • Strong Mechanical Engineering background
  • Sixsigma training and certificate (Black Belt preferred)
  • Fluency in Spanish (spoken)
  • Experience in injection molding (plastics)
  • Experience in steel wire bending
