Job Summary
The Communications Business Associate (CBA) is responsible for helping to build communication plans for assigned CN departments. The role works with team leads across CN functions and Communications Business Partners to identify annual communications objectives.

The role also collaborates with the Senior Manager, Corporate Communications and other key CN Hub team members to develop strategies and communications plan to help achieve departmental objectives.

The position coordinates clients' communication campaigns and ensures alignment of key departmental and company messages, tone and language by staying aligned with CN strategy.

The incumbent acts as a CN communication and brand advocate on behalf of the Hub at a department level and Company-wide.


Main Responsibilities

Communication Plan Development

  • Help develop, align and coordinate communication plans
  • Ensure that creative and effective communication campaigns are delivered on time, within budget and with all approvals effectively managed with Senior Manager
  • Support development of key messages for clients campaigns
  • Ensure messages and tone align within client's organization (campaign to campaign) and among various CN departments, ensuring that all communications stay true to CN's strategic Pillars and Foundations

Delivery of Tactics or Materials

  • Collaborate with Communications Hub Specialists (e.g. Omnichannel and Branding groups) to define tactical plan and drive its development, results, monitoring and measurement
  • Work on corporate communications projects in order to increase knowledge of CN's business, departments and stakeholders

Client Service Mentality

  • Respond to communications needs of client's organization with a strong client service approach and a cando solutionsoriented attitude
  • Educate client on communications practices and processes
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert in terms of understanding client, best means of communication, and critical success factors in reaching them with key messages
  • Build and nurture relationship with client department

Brand Advocacy

  • Represent Communications Hub and act as an advocate for the CN brand
  • Educate and strive to uphold brand standards set out by Communications Hub through recommendations to client

Working Conditions
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular work week from Monday to Friday. The incumbent must be available to work evening shifts and weekends when necessary.

Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and manage stress.


Requirements:


Experience
Communications

  • Between 5 to 7 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience in creating and executing communications strategies and plans
  • Experience in organizing employee events is an asset
  • Experience in developing and executing video plans
  • Experience in managing resources required for the execution of communications plans (Hub resources, CN resources and external resources such as videographers, photographers, designers, writers, translators )

Education/Certification/Designation

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Communications or equivalent
