Support Staff Regular Part-time Revised Replacement Position

(First consideration for Support Staff and Academic positions will be given to internal applicants in accordance with the respective Collective Agreements)


We require a qualified individual to prepare and provide daily nutritious lunches and snacks to children attending to the Child Development Centre.

The position will create weekly menus based on the Canada's Food Guide, Public Health recommendations and individual child needs.

In addition, the position will be responsible for nutrition, general cleanliness of kitchen space, ordering food and ensuring children's allergies and cultural requirements are reflected in meal preparation.

This position will work out of the Doon Campus, located at 299 Doon Valley Drive, Kitchener, ON.


Responsibilities:


  • Plan and develop a nutritious menu in consultation with the Supervisor
  • Ensure the Centre policies and procedures with respect to health and safety, sanitary practices, and food handling and storage are followed
  • Provide two snacks and one lunch everyday
  • Ensure the snacks and lunches are nutritious and follow the Centre's policies based on the Canada Food Guide
  • Ensure menus are posted as per CCEYA (Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014) requirements, including any necessary changes
  • Adhere to the nutritional and medical needs (allergies) of the children
  • Order food necessary for the Centre with the Supervisor's approval
  • Receive, unpack, and organize food orders
  • Perform daily washing of equipment, dishes, and kitchen area
  • Clean kitchen, cupboards, shelves, freezer, fridge, and other kitchen equipment as necessary

Qualifications:


  • Oneyear Certificate in Culinary Skills is required
  • Minimum one year of relevant industry experience in a professional kitchen is required
  • Experience planning meals to meet Canada's Food Guide and other kitchen equipment as necessary
  • Food Handler Training Certificate is required
  • Criminal Reference check of the vulnerable sector is required
  • First Aid and CPR certified is preferred
