About the Role


The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) supports the day-to-day operational implementation of key Human Resource processes, programs, and strategies through direct interaction with assigned client groups.

The HRBP supports activities to streamline organizational structure to meet business objectives, coaches and provides guidance to ensure compliance with HR policy, processes and bargaining unit collective agreements and manages recruitment for assigned client groups.

As an HRBP, you will facilitate the administration and interpretation of the collective agreement, ensuring your client groups recognize their role in establishing equitable and transparent leadership with bargaining and excluded employees.

In this role, you will use your excellent communication and organizational skills to collaborate with assigned client groups and further establish an engaged and high performing workforce.

About Your Day

Talent Acquisition

  • Work with people leaders to develop proactive staffing strategies
  • Conduct intake meetings with hiring managers to align on recruitment strategies
  • Participate in the interview process, acting as brand champion
  • Work with the HR Programs team to provide new employees with a seamless onboarding experience
Employee and Labour Relations

  • Administer the collective agreement in the assigned client groups and provide support to people leaders with interpretation
  • Manage and lead all stages of the grievance process within the assigned client group; seeking legal advice where necessary.
  • Investigate employee complaint(s) where appropriate
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
Coaching and Consulting

  • Communicate HR programs and process updates to assigned client groups through quarterly meetings or as necessary.
  • Prepare employee documentation or support people leaders in preparation of employee documentation as required.
  • Support assigned client groups with cyclical HR processes including, but not limited to performance management, talent calibration, etc.
  • Provide consultation and advice to people leaders on viable solutions and strategies to manage complex employee relations issues and discipline matters including employee terminations.
Strategic Planning

  • Analyze data derived from HR Scorecards, exit interviews, investigations and other sources and make recommendations to assigned client groups.
About You

  • Post-Secondary education in Human Resources Management, or equivalent combination of work/academic experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of Human Resources experience in various HR areas including, but not limited to the following: full cycle recruitment, employee relations, performance management, talent management, and organizational changes.
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships
  • Familiarity with Excel functions
  • Strong problem solver
  • CHRP or CHRL (preferred)
  • Human Resources Business Partner (preferred)
  • Strong functional experience in all HR disciplines, programs and practices (asset)
  • Experience in a unionized environment (asset)
  • Experience with an HRIS system (preferred)
  • Internal experience will be considered an asset
