The role

JFE Shoji Power Canada Inc.

is seeking a Team Lead, Laser Operations to join our growing team The Team Lead, Laser Operations is responsible for leading and directing a team of Laser Operators in the setup, operation, and programming of the AMADA CO2 laser.

& the Duties

  • Lead a team of laser operators and provide input to the development of JFE Shoji Power Canada Inc. standard designs and products related to laser processing.
  • Set up, operate, and program AMADA CO2 laser.
  • Setup and perform laser operations to specifications of the work order and fabrication prints and drawings.
  • Carry out quality checks on an ongoing basis to ensure completed work is within tolerance.
  • Perform daily and weekly maintenance and troubleshooting of laser equipment as required.
  • Meet tight deadlines and production needs as required.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and programming on laser.
  • Utilize material handling equipment as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Abide by all safety and nonsafety plant rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to established quality and housekeeping standards
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment with mínimal supervision.

& the skills, knowledge & abilities required

  • Minimum 5 years' experience with an AMADA 3015 NT laser or a CO2 laser.
  • Previous CAD/CAM experience (Lantek, AutoCAD or Solidworks).
  • Experience programming and nesting.
  • Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, calculate bend deduction allowances, understand different metals and their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Previous experience solving machine cutting issues.
  • Experience checking work using micrometers, depth gauges, vernier and layout tools
  • Forklift license will be an asset.
