Position Overview / Summary
We have an immediate opening for a Machinist in our Abbotsford manufacturing facility.

Our maintenance team supports a wide variety of production equipment from simple production tools up to 250-ton high-speed progressive stamping presses.

**Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Maintenance and Tool Room Supervisor, the Machinist is responsible for:

  • Creating quality parts produced on various machines such as but not limited to lathes, milling machines, and general shop equipment according to company plans, blueprints, and other diagrams.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and manuals to determine production processes and requirements and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
  • Detect equipment malfunctions or outoftolerance machining and adjust machines, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to ensure the quality of production.
Report all machine malfunctions to their immediate supervisor.


Qualifications

The minimum required qualifications for this role include:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, Post-secondary diploma or certification in a related field preferred.
  • Completion of a fouryear apprenticeship program or a combination of over four years of work experience in the trade and some college or industry courses in machining.
  • Journeyman / Red Seal Machinist certification preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience operating conventional machines such as lathes and milling machines in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • CNC Machine knowledge is an asset
  • Intermediate knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an intermediate understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensions.
  • Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions along with communicating in English.
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, and competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Able to fabricate new parts to replace defective parts during machine setup, maintenance, or overhaul.
  • Experience in supervising and mentoring apprentices.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
