The Opportunity
Our Old Montreal office has an immediate opening for a
Payroll Technician position.


As part of our finance team, you will be responsible for processing payroll transactions and timesheets within our company, updating payroll records, and addressing employee inquiries regarding payments.

In summary, you will ensure that employees are paid accurately while meeting deadlines.

Your responsibilities

  • Ensure payroll verification, analysis, and processing within prescribed deadlines.
  • Analyze and process employee expense reports.
  • Enroll employees in group insurance and employersponsored retirement savings programs.
  • Update data in various organizational platforms, including: hiring, group insurance enrollment, RRSP, salary changes, departures, vacation bank monitoring, PSC disability, etc.
  • Perform manual payroll calculations for retroactive payments, holidays, vacation banks, etc.
  • Respond to various employee inquiries with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Monitor vacation, personal, sick, and other leave banks.
  • Execute legal notices for wage garnishments, child support orders, or any other requests.
  • Produce Records of Employment (ROEs) and payroll reports.
  • Prepare yearend processing and produce tax slips as well as all yearend summaries and reports (complete YE cycle).
  • Perform other related tasks.

Your profile

  • Solid understanding of payroll principles and compliance.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with Desjardins payroll software is an asset.
  • DEC in accounting.
  • ACP accreditation is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Adaptability to changing environments.
  • Proactive problemsolving abilities.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in both French and English, to interact effectively with all our clients in Quebec and beyond.
