The Community Standards and Neighbourhoods Branch is looking for a Service Technician for the Capital City Clean Up program to support litter and graffiti reduction and prevention services that make a difference in keeping our streets, neighbourhoods, and open spaces clean and safe.


  • Participate in the delivery of Capital City Clean Up (CCCU) programs and services, including volunteer recruitment, training, and supervision
  • Participate in special events, projects, and initiatives with the Capital City Clean Up such as the School Yard Clean Up, Litter Supply Kits, and volunteer clean up events
  • Build relationships and collaborate with nonprofit groups, internal and external clients, communities and other key stakeholders
  • Administration of the Capital City Clean Up program which includes responding to customer inquiries, providing issues resolution, and creating information reports on services, projects, and / or initiatives
  • Perform field audits and maintenance followups on Capital City Clean Up (CCCU) Programs, including but not limited to Ashtrays, Safe Needle Disposal Program, Professional Graffiti Cleaning Program, Community Clean Up Grant Program, Litter Kits and more
  • Provide advice, recommendations, and support in the development, implementation, and close out of services offered by the Capital City Clean Up
  • Use of a motor vehicle is a requirement of the position to perform site inspections, audits, meetings, and delivery of materials

Qualifications:


  • Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Volunteer Management, Recreation Administration, Special Event Planning, Public Relations, Business Administration or a related field
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in the field of volunteer management and special event management with a demonstrated track record in program development, information management, and presentation delivery
  • One year experience in related program delivery including supervision of volunteers
  • Direct experience in developing and coordinating volunteer programs
  • Comprehensive knowledge of volunteer management
  • Knowledge of trends and best practices in volunteer management
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with multiple partners, external organizations and various stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Highly developed and demonstrable verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Physical aspects of the job include performing site inspections on public and / or private property, walking in indoor and outdoor settings for extended periods of time, performing deliveries of supplies, receiving deliveries, assembly and storage of materials in a warehouse environment.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
  • Applicants will be required to arrange their own transportation and where appropriate will be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This may require the applicant to obtain business auto insurance
  • Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton

_ Up to 1 temporary full-time position up to 18 months in accordance with Article 18.02 of the Collective agreement_

Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time.

Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
