We are actively seeking an organized, experienced_Damage Prevention Coordinator _to join our Headingley, Manitoba team
The Damage Prevention Coordinator works alongside the Operations team to plan, organize, map out and request locates for ROHL's telecommunication and utility construction projects in Manitoba.
Our Damage Prevention Coordinators play a crucial role as they are responsible for identifying, locating and marking the location of underground utilities in order to minimize damage or disruption of services during construction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review construction plans and drawings to request locates for underground utilities for various stakeholders, including Bell/MTS, Manitoba Hydro, Shaw and private utilities
- Liaise and coordinate with utility companies for locate requests
- Screen locates to identify issues and establish and change priorities as needed
- Perform quality assurance on all thirdparty utility locates
- Collect and process GPS data for local turnkey/design work
- Perform locates, as needed
- Compile, manage, and disseminate all required documentation to appropriate contacts
- Inspect jobsites to determine any constructability issues and create solutions in the construction plan and schedule
- Track, and update daily/weekly/monthly reports regarding locates so information is available to all required stakeholders
- Complete data entry into all required systems with accuracy including maintain locates archives
- Oversees and manages any restorations required and coordinate with thirdparty contractor
- Coordinate hotdig and safety watch programs and scheduling
- Coordinate street/lane closures for the City of Winnipeg
- Perform other duties as requested
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of 23 years prior experience as a Utility Locator or Damage Prevention Coordinator/Technician
- Industry experience in utility construction, installation and locates, considered an asset
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean abstract
- Ability to work with sense of urgency demonstrating the ability to shift priorities to accomplish objectives
- Ability to work efficiently with minimum supervision
- Capability to analyze data and obtain meaningful insights from the analyzed data
- Capable of anticipating constructability issues and provide solutions
- Strong attention to detail, highly organized and ability to prioritize work
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft 365 skills, particularly with Excel, Word and Outlook with a willingness to learn new technologies and processes
- Previous experience using GPS systems to mark out utilities is preferred
- Ability to operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to clearly communicate with internal and external stakeholders both verbally and in writing
- Strong work ethic, dedicated, and selfdisciplined
- Excellent problemsolving skills
- Selfmotivated with the ability to take initiative and resolve problems independently; monitors own quality of work
