Katzie First Nation seeks a unique individual to temporarily step into an
Events Coordinator role for approximately six months.

This exciting and fast-paced role requires someone who is a good balance of efficiency and detail-oriented, as they will be collaborating with all departments to ensure the sound and smooth rollout of all Katzie events.


Multi-tasking is crucial for this role as you organize multiple concurrent community and internal events to unite people, focusing on strengthening the community's unity.

These events range from employee luncheons to community-focused events and consultation and engagement sessions.

A secondary focus for the Events Coordinator is to closely collaborate with colleagues to understand where related community engagement has been successful and put capacity towards opportunities for improvement.


What you will be responsible for:

  • Organize, coordinate, manage, and execute the logistics of KFN events.
  • Community events career fairs, education awards, wellness events and cultural ceremonies and gatherings etc.
  • Community holiday incentives and distributions.


  • Holiday events

  • Community Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Aboriginal Day, Truth and Reconciliation Day, Pink Shirt Day etc.
  • Workshops and staff gettogethers, including meetings.
  • Unique collaboration with Katzie Women's Group members to bring their vision for the group to life. This includes but is not limited to finding facilitators, providing access to KFN buildings, and executing agreedupon outings and events.
  • Support departments with rolling out community engagement sessions to inform KFN governance initiatives.
  • Inform and develop eventspecific policy and procedures manual.
  • Manage the KFN events calendar.
  • Operate projectors and audiovideo equipment to support hybrid (inperson & zoom) engagement sessions.
  • Manage facilitator and other eventsspecific contracts.
  • Maintain and create relationships to facilitate volunteer needs.
  • Directing support staff, ensuring events function seamlessly, including organizing sufficient staff and volunteers.
  • Aide in the setup and cleanup of events.
  • Ensure a safe, nurturing, inviting, and inclusive environment for youth, families, and community.
  • Other activities that aid in achieving positive connections in the community.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Katzie cultural practices and traditions.
  • Basic knowledge of the impacts of the Indian Act, residential schools, and foster care.
  • Two (2) years of prior relevant experience in event coordination is an asset.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary, multitasking environment with tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to organize many moving parts and pivot priorities as needed.
  • Experience and knowledge utilizing Zoom and other virtual conferencing platforms.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using social media platforms like Facebook.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers and clean driver's abstract.
  • Owns or has access to reliable transportation.
  • Standard work hours are 8:30 4:30 with a onehour lunch; however, this role
    REQUIRES schedule flexibility, including evenings and weekends, in some cases if an event requires it.
