The Clinical Quality Consultant is part of the Integrated Quality Management (IQM) portfolio supporting the Edmonton Zone.

This position has the opportunity to work in a diverse range of healthcare environments, and with staff and leaders at many levels of the organization.

The position works with members of the IQM team to provide ongoing leadership in fostering a culture of a continuous quality improvement.

Depending on the area of focus, the Clinical Quality Consultant will play an integral role in supporting a variety of clinical teams in quality management across the organization.


Description:


Reporting to the Manager, Quality and Patient Safety, the Clinical Quality Consultant plays a pivotal role in advancing patient safety culture in the Edmonton Zone.


This position is responsible to:

Collaborate and consult with stakeholders to influence culture change through continual representation of the quality management body of knowledge in strategic program development.

Influence change management in development and implementation of new and improvement initiatives (e.g. Connect Care). Facilitate the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives related to service improvement, patient safety and accreditation standards.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a Baccalaureate Degree in a health care or health care related field is required (e.g. nursing, allied health discipline, human factors). Must be registered with an appropriate professional college.

Minimum of 5 years of recent diverse (acute / community) clinical and/or managerial healthcare experience in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity.

Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and team building skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships and to work both independently and interdependently.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience and skills in group facilitation techniques including of multidisciplinary teams of various sizes. Ability to research, monitor, and analyze data for use in decision-making and recommendations. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Must be able to work in multiple work settings in person and virtually (e.g. acute care site, administrative sites, rural sites). Proficiency with computer skills in Microsoft Office suite (e.g. Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and Connect Care. Self-directed and able to work with mínimal supervision. Well-developed critical thinking skills and ability to problem-solve.

Demonstrated ability to lead change in a complex environment based on sound principles, such as PROSCI, Institute of HealthCare Improvement (IHI) and Alberta Improvement Way (AIW).

Demonstrated, comfort with decision making responsibilities and the ability to inspire and build confidence. Flexibility to work in a complex, multi-disciplinary changing environment managing multiple priorities and expectations.

Extensive knowledge of the evidence-based practice, accreditation principles, quality and safety methodologies, and knowledge translation to improve patient care and the health care system.


Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in clinical field, business or healthcare administration.
