This role in summary
Whirlpool is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Analyst, Engineering opening to join our Central Manufacturing Engineering Group (CME). The position can be located at our Clyde Manufacturing Site.
Whirlpool is looking for an experienced Process Engineer with a strong background in design, build and qualification of Assembly Processes. As part of the Central Manufacturing Engineering Group, the successful candidate will work closely with Laundry manufacturing locations, E&T (Engineering and Technology), Advanced Manufacturing, Quality and Safety to execute new manufacturing projects. This will cover coveted brands such as Whirlpool, Amana, Estate, KitchenAid, and Maytag.
The successful candidate will be at the forefront of developing and implementing new processing technologies. This will require determining the anticipated impact to the existing manufacturing footprint and capability. Included in this role you will establish the capital and expense budget estimates along with defining and documenting potential benefits.
Your responsibilities will include
Support manufacturing by ensuring proper design for cost and maintainability
Collaborate with team members on the implementation of new equipment and designs
Assume various Project Management roles on projects as assigned or required
Work closely with NPI and Laundry manufacturing locations to define capital purchases
Specify through implementation and handoff of new processes to manufacturing operations
Schedule and lead meetings with vendors and Manufacturing Team
Ensure that new processes are flexible within design to accommodate long range new product cadence plans with the intent of minimizing future capital requirements.
Support WCM methodologies with integration of new processes.
Providing input on new or existing process designs to provide best available solutions for Whirlpool
Work independently and to collaborate with others
20% travel (Domestic)
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or in lieu of the degree, a High School Diploma or GED and a Journeyman's card with 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Preferred skills and experiences
Manufacturing operation process development and implementation experience
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts
Interpersonal and team building skills with the ability to work in a team environment
Project management, analytical and problem solving skills
Experience with assembly processes
Ability to translate component GD&T (Geometry Dimensioning and Tolerancing), into equipment designs so that critical interfaces are assured
Demonstrated history of gathering input from key stakeholders and gaining their buy-in
Demonstrated success in translating technical concepts to commonly used business language
Support manufacturing by ensuring proper design for cost and maintainability
Experience working in a heavily automated production environment
