About us


Kootenay Doukhobor Historical Society is a non profit society in Castlegar, BC that operates and manages the Doukhobor Discovery Centre Museum & Village Bistro Restaurant.

The Operations Manager is employed by the KOOTENAY DOUKHOBOR HISTORICAL

SOCIETY to operate, supervise, manage and oversee with the cooperation of the

Executive Director all daily operations of the Doukhobor Discovery Centre excluding

administrative responsibilities.

This includes but is not limited to the following:

Hire, train and supervise summer staff with cooperation from the Executive

Director and KDHS board executive.

Attend all DDC events and fundraisers.

Create, develop and deliver requested site tours for all DDC guests.

Install, repair, catalogue and maintain all artifacts and displays.

Submit weekly time sheet and activity report to KDHS Executive every

Monday.

Cooperate with Executive Director and staff to maintain all DDC social media,

website and print media industry related contacts and releases.

Cooperate with Executive Director to research and engage new and existing

industry related organizations.

Cooperate with Executive Director to establish and maintain quality public

relations with local governments, community groups, schools, KDHS members

and general public.

Cooperate with Executive Director to manage all DDC inventory and artifacts

with care and attention to detail.

Cooperate with Executive Director to ensure the safety, security and well

being of all DDC visitors and patrons.

Have a working understanding of building and grounds maintenance tools and

machinery.

Maintain all buildings, fences, grounds, trees and flowers to a higher

standard.

WHMIS and standard First Aid certification must be up to date.

Cooperate with Executive Director to manage all operating and maintenance

equipment used by the DDC and KDHS.

Attend all KDHS monthly board meetings, AGM and executive meetings.

Prepare and present monthly activity report at KDHS monthly Board

meetings.

Cooperate with Executive Director to create and maintain strong relationships

with all DDC property renters and lessees.

Cooperate with Executive Director to immediately report any damaged or

unsafe DDC property to KDHS chairperson for action to be carried out

Cooperate with Executive Director to complete any other duties

recommended by the KDHS board to ensure proper function of the DDC

Attend strategic planning sessions. Follow and deliver on the strategic plan

results with assistance from the KDHS board of directors.


The Operations Manager is expected to conduct themselves appropriately at all times while attending to their work schedule, community meetings and events.

Appropriate casual attire is expected. Appropriate representation of culturally sensitive information, material and artifacts is expected. Confidentiality and responsibility of all DDC operations relating to the position of
Operations Manager is expected at all times.


Requirements:


Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Castlegar, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (required)

Salary:
$21.00-$22.00 per hour
