  • JBH is a Clinical Education site in conjunction with McMaster University, and designated as an Academic Community Teaching Hospital. Its expanded campus includes the stateofart Michael Lee-Chin & Family Patient Tower, featuring a new Emergency Department, 172 acute inpatient beds, 9 new Operating Rooms and postanaesthetic care unit to support expanded medical, surgical and outpatient services. JBH is also a partner member of the Burlington Ontario Health Team.:
  • Working under the direction of the Senior Project Manager and in Collaboration with other Redevelopment Staff, this position will be responsible to provide assistances in a wide range of projects at Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH), and development/implementation of coping strategies during the planning, moving and construction projects including:
  • RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participation in project planning for the JBH redevelopment team including inventory assessment, review and development of equipment, furniture and fixtures lists.
  • Assist Senior Project Manager with project implementation and development of appropriate strategies/controls to ensure the projects proceed on time and on budget.
  • Participation in the review, analysis and evaluation of drawings, specifications, and preparation of recommendations to ensure awarding of contracts to qualified, cost effective, and knowledgeable contractors/vendors.
  • Participation in the review, analysis, and evaluation of complex proponent submissions to ensure documents reflect the scope and Hospital requirements and are accurate and complete.
  • Participation in research of best practices in a variety of areas associated with projects to ensure consideration is given to the current organizational best practices and external innovative, creative, environmentally sound, and cost effective approaches to design and equipment and furnishings.
  • Assist the Project Manager with the development of the Master Schedule for various projects, including coping strategies and monitors project processes, ensuring adherence to the Schedule
  • Participates in preparation of MOHLTC Capital Planning process, and internal reporting and internal reporting to develop, monitor and track multiple capital projects
  • Facilitating staging and relocations resulting from renovations, relocations resulting from implementation of coping strategies, ensuring mínimal interruption of daytoday operations, and for patients, families, staff and physicians.
  • Active participant on selected Redevelopment and other relevant Committees.
  • Undertaking a variety of other activities as required assisting the Redevelopment Office to meet workload demands.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Student studying (Architectural Technology, Construction Science, Engineering Technology, Interior Design or equivalent is required.
  • Strong and proficient computer skills (i.e. MS Office, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word), Visio, AutoCAD, Project Management software, etc. an asset.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to establish positive working relationships with internal/external partners.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills are key to support your work in a fast paces health care, multiunion environment.
  • Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality, availability and performance required.
