- Contribute to the year‑end fiscal cycle by assisting with audit preparation, providing documentation, and supporting the completion of audited financial statements.
- Update and monitor daily bank statement activity to ensure accurate cash tracking.
- Reconcile and post donation revenue by reviewing batches from Raiser's Edge and ensuring accuracy with Financial Edge.
- Perform monthly bank and revenue reconciliations, resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Review GST, HST, and QST allocations on invoices and employee expense claims submitted through Nexonia to ensure accuracy of tax recoveries.
- Record accounts payable invoices in Financial Edge, process AP payments (EFTs, wires, bill payments, e‑transfers), and upload EFT files to the bank for processing.
- Post AP batches and reconcile the AP subledger to maintain accurate vendor records.
- Review and prepare EFT decline files for adjustments in Raiser's Edge.
- Collaborate with the Donor Engagement & Administration (DEA) team to troubleshoot revenue batch issues.
- Support the monitoring and enhancement of internal controls, financial policies, and operational processes to safeguard organizational resources.
- Review Gift‑in‑Kind donations to determine tax receipt eligibility.
- Act as the financial liaison for third‑party fundraising partners such as United Way, CanadaHelps, and CHIMP.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies while identifying opportunities to improve financial procedures and workflow efficiencies.
- Reconcile gift letters/emails with bank deposits and prepare donation processing forms for input into Raiser's Edge.
- Contribute to special projects as assigned by the Director, Finance, or COO.
- Provide backup support to team members as required to maintain continuity of financial operations.
- Provide guidance in monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on the effectiveness of programs and operations, recommending corrective actions where needed. Offer direct advice to department leads and present recommendations to senior leadership for complex or high‑impact issues.

- Perform reasonability tests and analytical review for HST submissions to ensure accuracy and compliance.

- Partner with department leads to evaluate the cost-effectiveness and return on investment (ROI) of fundraising initiatives and other strategic activities.
- Support departmental teams in planning and budgeting processes by analyzing trends, monitoring budget performance, and preparing monthly variance analysis to help inform decision‑making.
- Support the development and implementation of financial system enhancements, upgrades, and integration projects by contributing to system design, participating in testing, and drafting business process documentation.
- Design, implement, and maintain performance dashboards that help teams monitor key metrics and make data‑driven decisions.
- Ensure strong internal controls over financial workflows and system interfaces, particularly integrations with Raiser's Edge.
- Train team members on generating and interpreting financial reports and dashboards, to enhance financial literacy and improve reporting consistency across the organization.
- Develop, update, and maintain system documentation and training manuals to ensure alignment, clarity, and continuity in financial processes.
- Post‑secondary degree, college diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and related accounting experience.
- Minimum of three (3+) years of accounting experience, ideally within a non‑profit environment.
- CPA designation (or internationally recognized equivalent) completed or in progress.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex functions and data analysis tools.
- Practical working knowledge of Raiser's Edge and Financial Edge (or similar fundraising and fund accounting financial management systems).
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, the Senior Accountant plays a key role in our day-to-day financial operations. In this position, you will take ownership of core accounting activities - including bank reconciliations, revenue postings, and preparing journal and cash entries - ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data.
You will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger and subledger transactions, performing month-end activities by reviewing, verifying, and approving accounts payable entries, and serving as a reliable backup for finance team functions when needed. This role also provides the opportunity to contribute to high-impact organizational processes. You will support the coordination and consolidation of the annual budget and play an integral role in the year-end audit, collaborating with internal teams and external auditors.
