Job Purpose


The Communications and Fund Development Co-ordinator will play an essential role in supporting the implementation of the organization's fundraising and development functions.

This position will provide administrative and communications support to assist CAWES in reaching its public awareness and fundraising objectives and supporting the overall sustainability of the organization.

Priorities include assisting in cultivation and stewardship of relationships with existing and potential donors, organizing fundraising and awareness-raising events and campaigns, and maintaining effective communications with CAWES' donors and stakeholders.


As a key member of the Fund Development team, the Communications and Fund Development Coordinator will assist in planning and executing fundraising activities and events, as well as in providing support for donor relations, grant writing, communications, and marketing efforts.

The position will utilize planning, organizing, communication, and creative skills to provide administrative and coordination support to the fundraising team.


Duties and Responsibilities


The Fund Development Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation of CAWES fund development plan including the facilitation of events and activation of partnerships to achieve CAWES' strategic goals.

This position will work closely with CAWES senior leadership team to ensure fund development strategies are met.

To do so, this position will:

  • Create and manage content for various communication channels, including website, social media, newsletters, and press releases to support fund development and organizational goals.
  • Manage and regularly update the CAWES website and related database.
  • Provide communications and marketing support for various CAWES public awareness and fundraising activities and initiatives.
  • Support and maintain strong relationships with CAWES' donors, sponsors, and stakeholders and raise charitable support for the organization to meet the organization's financial targets.
  • Liaise with donors, sponsors, community groups, and organizations wanting to assist CAWES in its mission.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating fundraising activities and events, including donor cultivation and stewardship events and fundraising campaigns.
  • Contribute to the identification and research of potential donors, sponsors, and fundraising sources.
  • Support the grant writing process by assisting with identifying grant opportunities, proposal development and submission, and reporting.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of donor and sponsorship stewardship and recognition activities.
  • Provide administrative support for the Fund Development team, including scheduling meetings, maintaining files, and preparing reports as needed.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Notforprofit experience in fundraising, communications, or a related field preferred.
  • 12 years of combined professional experience and education in fundraising, event planning or a related field
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects effectively
  • Solid interpersonal skills and experience working in a small team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and database experience
  • Strong knowledge of and proficiency in using social media and webbased platforms (Wix)
  • A valid Alberta Driver's License and vehicle
  • Be willing and able to travel throughout Central Alberta

Working Conditions
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) working from the CAWES office.

The usual office hours are 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday, during regular office hours (8:30 am - 5:00 pm).

There is some evening and weekend work that will require flexibility with scheduling.


Physical Requirements
This position requires spending significant periods of time working at a computer, talking on the telephone, and event set‐up. Some travel throughout the region is required.
