What you'll do- Investigate, evaluate and settle complex PD liability files along with some BI, Commercial General Liability Casualty and possibly some E&O, D&O and US claims with claimants or their representatives- Ability to handle a varied pending, including files in both pre-litigation and litigation as well as out-of-province claims.- High level of comfort dealing directly with key clients and broker on all claim related issues and other assistance as required- Interpret and confirm insurance coverage using background knowledge of relevant case law combined with a detailed understanding of policy wordings- Ensure file reserves are set on a timely and accurate basis, in line with company protocols- Retain control over expenses through pro-active handling techniques- Review and analyze Third Party Adjuster other external reports to ensure accurate disposition of claims with view to handle costs and provide outstanding customer service;- Provide instructions to vendors and TPA's to adjust claims;- Ensure vendors and TPA's adhere to company policies and procedures;- Clearly document and summarize file activity- Understand and adhere to Aviva's claim procedures and guidelines- Ability to communicate and work well with other departments within Aviva- Expert understanding of the claims' experience while understanding the technical strategic direction for the claims file- Look for new and incremental ways to improve things every day for the customer- Clear understanding of financial elements of our claims function to ensure we remain financially strong and deliver year on year improvement in our business performance- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the financial information gathered in Aviva systems- Identify and report on any suspicions of fraud or financial irregularities in line with existing Aviva procedures- Find opportunities to improve the customer journey, the claims handling processes and financial outcomes for our business- Key deliverables for the role that will determine how success is defined and measured.- Consistently demonstrate "above and beyond" customer experiences.
What you'll bring- CIP or FCIP Industry designation preferred- University Degree or College Diploma or equivalent Casualty technical work experience- 7 + years previous claims' experience;- 5 + years of Commercial Claims; with a solid understanding of more complex Casualty PD liability claims- Exposure to US claims/ E&O/ D&0 claims an asset- Client interaction experience- Technical competence in Commercial insurance- Excellent verbal and written communication skills- Computer proficiency; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, ClaimCenter- Sound decision making and problem solving skills- Stand as an expert and provide in-depth advice to customers and other stakeholders for GCS- Understand what matters to our customers- Think critically and collaborate with all stakeholders to get the best outcomes.
