GENERAL SUMMARY_
Assure the timely and cost-effective purchase of materials and services to support production and service requirements as communicated from Planning, Production Operations, Engineering, Sales, Information Systems, and Quality Control.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)_
- Using MRP maintain current planned delivery schedules for supplier's open purchase orders
- Monitor supplier on time delivery and quality levels to develop and implement plans for continuous improvement of supplier performance
- Maintain current delivery leadtimes for all items purchased from supplier
- Negotiate Supply pricing/ bulk purchase discounts with strategic Suppliers
- Working in conjunction with the Quality Engineer, identification and validation of new/alternative sources for Goods and Services required from Dezurik's supply chain
- Audit of existing supply chain sources to validate quality, performance and cost effectiveness is maintained to company standards
- Maintain comprehensive list of Capital Assets (i.e. tooling), located at 3rd Party locations. As well, coordinate Tooling relocation as required
- Travel to and meet with assigned Suppliers, as required.
- Monitor Market supply trends/risks, providing detailed reports to Supervisor with forecasts for considerations toward the coming months and year. This shall include risks to commodities pricing, capacity, local geopolitical/environmental changes impacting supply, etc.
- Negotiate with approved suppliers for the best price and delivery of the required materials in the correct quantity and quality and issue the purchase order for the requirement
- Explore opportunities for cost reduction programs to meet target set at yearly performance review
- Investigate and develop cost saving programs with vendors such as kanban or stocking programs
- Resolve supplier payment disputes with finance and optimize payment terms and freight terms
- Maintain current prices for purchased materials and use to establish annual standard costs
- Maintain database to ensure accurate item data, price breaks, vendor information, etc.
- Process any paperwork required for initiating NCRs, SCARs or RGAs
- Resolve nonconformance issues as required
- Follow all DeZURIK safety standards
- Follow all rules and regulations included in the DeZURIK Employee Handbook
- Report any hazards, nearmisses or incidents that you notice or are involved in
- Shared responsibility for demonstrating professionalism and respect for all employees of DeZURIK
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE_
- 5+ years' experience in industrial purchasing
- Knowledge of International/ Cross border shipments
- Position requires the ability to gain sufficient product and process knowledge to be used in the evaluation of potential or current suppliers and their ability to perform to DeZURIK standards
- Must be Knowledgeable in cost reduction techniques, justintime principles, and total cost and quality management
- APICS or SCPM Certification or equivalent experience
- Strong negotiation and problemsolving skills required
- Valve knowledge an asset
- Computer literate: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
- Previous experience with an MRP system (3 years)
- Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with people at all levels of business including suppliers
- Attention to detail with high degree of accuracy
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fastpaced environment
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent problemsolving skills (with mínimal supervision)
- Excellent personal discipline and work ethic with respect to time and attendance.
- Technical capability to read/understand drawings and machine shop processes.
- A positive "let's do it" attitude
- Ability to work in and contribute to a team building environment

Normal office demands with occasional extended hours.

A fast-paced environment that may be stressful at times in response to manufacturing environment conditions. Work performed in a manufacturing and office environment. Travel requirements as warranted by business conditions.
