The Canada Green Building Council (CAGBC) is a not-for-profit organization supporting the building sector with practical solutions to accelerate climate action.

Through market engagement, outcome-based learning, government advocacy and trusted building certification programs like Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED), the Zero Carbon Building Standards (ZCB), and Investor Ready Energy Efficiency (IREE), CAGBC provides the expertise Canada's building sector needs to understand the value of green buildings.


JOB PROFILE


As a key member of the Market Engagement Team, the Business Development Advisor will contribute to growing the impact of CAGBC's market engagement efforts across new and existing audiences.

You are an energetic, customer-focused and forward-thinking individual who can leverage your existing skills and green building knowledge to develop and execute on results-driven growth plans in support of these efforts.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development and Growth

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop business opportunities, including cultivating and maintaining a robust pipeline and sales funnel to strengthen uptake and ensure that continuous business development growth goals are met.
  • Develop key account strategies and manage relationships at all levels of client organizations to support growth and retention objectives including relationships with sustainability leaders and business decisionmakers as required.
  • Conduct facetoface meetings, develop and present proposals, and prepare a variety of reports including meeting summaries.
  • Track, analyze and report on key pipeline, opportunity, forecast and productivity metrics.
  • Set annual and monthly business development strategies, objectives and targets in coordination with other CAGBC teams as needed.
  • Support the overall business by conducting research and analyzing market trends to understand short and longterm needs, prepare outlooks and forecasts, and support the continual improvement of business development strategies.
  • Develop relationships with sector stakeholders such as investors, architects, consultants, developers, industry associations and governments to promote CAGBC Products and Services.
  • Engage with current clients, members and prospects to keep them informed of CAGBC product and service updates, activities, initiatives and opportunities to participate with CAGBC.

Teamwork and Leadership

  • Supervise and oversee the business development activities of Business Development Specialists and other staff as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Work to ensure the effective collaboration of CAGBC teams to identify and coordinate business development activities.
  • Coordinate with the CAGBC Green Building Program team for all customer service inquiries and followup.
  • Identify opportunities and work with the broader CAGBC Team to develop and implement new valueadded products, services, and programming opportunities.
  • Act as a market resource and first line of contact for clients, members, stakeholders and CAGBC staff.
  • Promote company image and products at business related events.

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor.

SKILLS

  • Strong business acumen and sales skills.
  • Demonstrated polished and professional verbal, interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of green building, building and real estate sectors and demonstrated expertise to support the market.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, including the ability to multitask and manage numerous projects concurrently.
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with seniorlevel decision makers.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing gotomarket strategies.
  • Bilingual French and English (verbal and written, including presentation skills) is a definite asset.
