About CASA


CASA Mental Health is an established non-profit organization delivering holistic, culturally-safe wrap-around mental health services to Albertans and their families.

CASA provides mental health service to the missing middle - mental health treatment for diagnosed children and youth, in between prevention and promotion in primary and community care, and acute treatment in hospital.

CASA's team of mental health professionals are trauma experts committed to delivering service in collaboration with community partners.

This includes assessment and treatment for up to 4,000 children, youth and their families each year, from community outreach settings to intensive treatment programs.


About the Role


CASA's Volunteer Resources team is growing to support CASA's five-year strategic roadmap, and we need a coordinator to assist in the expansion of the CASA volunteer program to meet the needs of this anticipated growth.


Reporting to the Director, Communications and Philanthropy, the Coordinator, Volunteer Resources will be primarily responsible for the recruitment, screening, selection, training, engagement and scheduling of CASA Mental Health volunteers throughout the volunteer life cycle.


This role will assist in partnering across the organization and community to promote and advance volunteerism, collective action and to help foster CASA Mental Health as a charity of choice for volunteers though meaningful volunteer opportunities that complement our programs, services and events.

The Coordinator, Volunteer Resources will collaborate across many teams to coordinate volunteers as we strive to deliver essential clinical programs and services, as well as successful fundraising events in support of child, youth and family mental health.


The Coordinator, Volunteer Resources will:

  • Deliver a positive volunteer experience throughout the volunteer life cycle, with a focus on recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, development, and support of CASA volunteers.
  • Maintain the CASA volunteer management database, ensuring volunteer data, hour tracking and scheduling is kept uptodate within the platform.
  • Provide accurate volunteer opportunity position descriptions, communicate and ensure appropriate placement and scheduling of volunteers with opportunities that align with interests and abilities.
  • Assist to develop staffvolunteer partnerships across organization to foster volunteer engagement and build a strong volunteer pipeline.
  • Supports volunteer engagement and validation in partnership with the volunteer's portfolio, such as identifying opportunities for growth and meaningful engagement with the organization.
  • Assist with content and volunteer profiles that showcase CASA's volunteer programs, which could be distributed online, in publications, in social media, and anywhere else CASA communicates.
  • Inform and implement regular updates to volunteer training and orientation best practices as needed.
  • Assist in volunteer recognition strategies and recognition events as needed.
  • Attend, where necessary all CASA's volunteer supported events on event day to lead and provide direction to scheduled volunteers.
  • Represent CASA Mental Health and volunteer services to donors, community and stakeholders.
  • Assist in drafting correspondence and reports on volunteer contributions; develop presentation material or other communications for the Volunteer Resources team in addition to updating any policies, procedures, training manuals and forms as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to the department, such as scheduling meetings, and other duties as determined by the director and department.

Qualifications

  • Prior volunteer coordination experience is an asset.
  • Must have familiarity and passion to work with volunteers.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization and administrative skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience in Better Impact software or volunteer management databases preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain productive work relationships with staff, leadership, and volunteers while working independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills in addition to solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management strategies.
  • Experience working in mental health, nonprofit, philanthropy or related fields is an asset.
