Position Overview:

Reporting to the Manager, you will complete all tasks required for Dietary Helper

  • General. Some of these duties will include cleaning and transporting of equipment, safe operation of the dish machine, pot wash machine, garborator, conveyor, elevator and other related tasks. You may be scheduled at the Birchmount or General hospitals based on departmental needs.

Requirements:


  • High School Diploma
  • Proven ability to read, write and speak in English
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical activity such as lifting, reaching, pushing and carrying
  • Physical capabilities to perform all General Helper duties
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues and volunteers and other members of the community and public
  • Demonstrates values consistent with SHN's Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular inservice education in this area.
  • Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
  • Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
  • Demonstrates excellent work performance and attendance record

Asset:


  • Food service experience
  • Food Handler's Certificate
  • Ability to speak another language
