PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Management of watershed wide private landowner stewardship programs and services; planning, development and operations of all Authorityowned properties and infrastructure including motor pool.
Supervision of stewardship and conservation lands operations staff, including management of campgrounds and facilities and special events that are associated with Conservation Areas, excluding education programming.
Ensuring public and employee health and safety issues including recommendations from the Joint Health and Safety committee are addressed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A postsecondary degree or diploma from a recognized academic institution in forestry, environmental sciences or other environmentallyrelated discipline with significant background in stewardship and land management.
At least five years of related experience.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience management of lands and the undertaking of land and water stewardship projects/programs.
Knowledge of and experience with computer systems and software packages related to GIS, and general office IT.
Knowledge and experience with databases formats and systems including: shapefiles, MS Access, and the general principles of database systems.
Knowledge and experience with forestry practices. Qualifications of a R.P.F. would be an asset.
Knowledge and experience land donations and the federal Ecogifts program would be an asset.
Knowledge and experience with management of staff, including addressing HR issues, performance management and staff motivation.
Knowledge and experience with statistical analyses would be an asset.
Some experience in general construction, vehicle maintenance, resource management, environmental assessment, and / or municipal planning requirements would be and asset.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to provide advice, teach or train and establish partnerships with diverse stakeholder groups.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to work independently and solve problems.
Effective at managing time and prioritizing tasks.
Valid G Class Drivers Licence (mandatory).

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordination of development, management, operations and financial planning for Conservation Authority owned lands and facilities
Design and implementation of watershed wide public and private land stewardship programs including reforestation, tallgrass prairie, wetland and other habitat development initiatives
Supervision of Conservation Area operations (field) staff and Conservation authority stewardship staff (hourly and salaried), as well as volunteer, contractors, researchers, and citizen scientists
Cultivate and build cooperative relationships and collaborate with diverse groups, including landowners, land managers, conservation partners, government officials, donors, advisory committee members, local businesses and the general public, to recruit support for LTVCA and publicize the Authorities programs and activities.
Develop and steward relationships with donors and potential donors, including active fundraising, receiving of donated lands, researching funding sources and writing of grant proposals.
Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets in collaboration with program staff and LTVCA's Financial Department.
Identify opportunities to streamline property management, operation of campground and day use facilities, and generally improve the financial performance of the Conservation Authority's land holdings.
Coordinate program planning and implementation with the senior management team ensuring initiatives align with the strategic plan, integrate into all Authority programs and reflect annual work plan priorities.
Coordinate LTVCA fleet management across Eastern and Western districts
